As part of the retired soccer star’s collaboration with the luxury leather goods maker Belstaff, David Beckham and photographer Peter Linderbergh have recently joined forces to present a limited edition book of photographic outtakes of their 2014 campaign. The footballer-turned-into-model has designed a capsule collection of biker-inspired gear and has announced he’ll extend his collaboration with the company.
The retired soccer star and the luxury leather goods manufacturer have been working together for the last year. Beckham drew quite the crowd a month ago outside the Belstaff store on Madison Avenue in New York for a personal appearance to promote his motorcycle-inspired capsule collection for the luxury brand. It was then when he also presented the new book, meant to be a summary of their work for the last year.

The coffee-table book is a photographic tale of the company’s work for this year, revealed in both black & white and color print. “Explore this visual narrative of the contemporary Belstaff identity, embodied by David Beckham, and discover the legendary motorcycles featured in the shoot and biking cult that inspired it,” the book is described.

A 90-year old company

Belstaff was founded by Eli Belovitch and his son-in-law Harry Grosberg in Staffordshire and initially produced all-weather jackets for motorcyclists. The company later created weather-protective jackets for other uses, goggles (primarily for the growing aviation market), gloves and several other garments intended to keep the wearer warm, dry and safe.

Belstaff became a subsidiary of James Halstead in 1948 - a company also responsible in later years for the success of the Australian brand Driza-Bone. In June 2011, Harry Slatkin along with The Labelux Groups, acquired Belstaff.
