YOLO: Space Force Guardian Ditches Training to Buy PS5, Is Demoted

2020 is skewing people’s priorities big time, including those of us that should lead by example in terms of discipline and common sense: soldiers. Or, as the soldiers in the U.S. Space Force are officially called now, guardians.
Letter of reprimand reveals Space Force guardian chose a PS5 over physical training because "YOLO" 1 photo
The United States Space Force (USSF) was founded one year ago, with VP Mike Pence just informing the media that USSF soldiers are called guardians. Of the galaxy, because who’s not up for a Marvel reference any given time of day?

One such guardian kicked off his December on a very high note, as a letter of reprimand posted to Facebook shows: by ditching training so he could go scouting Target locations for a PS5. Task And Purpose tried to confirm the authenticity of the letter with Space Force Delta 8 but was told confirmation wasn’t possible right now because the process wasn’t complete without an appeal possibility.

However, the spokesperson noted that styling and formatting was consistent to what would be used in a formal, sanctioned document. In other words, it’s most likely true. And this guardian has just become the latest viral star, for putting a PS5 above his training for the Space Force, and for bringing back, if only briefly, the YOLO phrase (You Only Live Once). As you can see in the photo attached, when he was informed that he was 30 minutes late to his fitness lesson, the guardian responded with “Yolo PS5 > letters of discipline.”

“You were late to work and insinuated to your supervisor that buying a PlayStation was more important to you than the disciplinary consequences of your actions,
” the letter states. “Your actions are an extreme deviation from the professionalism expected of you as a member of the armed forces.”

As a result, the guardian has been demoted from Senior Airman to Airman 1st Class. The worst part is that we don’t even get to learn whether the demotion was worth it, since the letter doesn’t specify whether this brave guardian was able to score a PS5 or not.
