Yamaha UK Announces YZF-R1 Promotion

Following Marco Melandri’s promising WSB start at Phillip Island in late February, Yamaha decided to further arouse interest of potential customers for its YZF-R1 model. The company’s British division, for example, announced it has made a very tempting offer available, but for a limited time only.

Specifically, Yamaha is offering new purchasers of the R1 not only Interest Free credit for 3 years, but also a pair of Akrapovic silencers absolutely free (worth over £1000).

“With a very tempting offer like that, new owners could be in for a summer of revelling in the bike's fantastic driveability, feel and excitement whilst spending the money that has just been saved for that promised WSB race visit in Europe. Catalunya anyone?” the company says.

The offer is available until the end of March 2011, and each finance agreement must include a minimum deposit of £99. Finance term is 3 years and interest free, maximum advance is manufacturer's RRP plus first registration fee and vehicle excise duty. Finance is applicable only to officially imported 2009/10 models supplied through Yamaha Motor (UK) Ltd, while the muffler offer is only available on 2009/10 models.

The race-inspired YZF-R1 is powered by an innovative 998cc inline four-cylinder engine that features a crossplane crankshaft with an uneven firing interval for enhanced throttle linearity. In fact, Yamaha says it offers the feeling that “the rider's throttle hand is directly connected to the rear tire.” The new engine puts out 182 PS and 115.5 Nm of torque, while the all-new Deltabox chassis offers perfect rigidity balance.
