Yamaha is expected to show two new versions of their acclaimed TMAX maxi scooter. Apparently, trademark requests have already been filed for the TMAX SX and TMAX DX names, and there are suspicions that Yamaha will have these two new machines ready for the autumn bike shows.
So far, Yamaha has not revealed any information related to these new maxi scooters, and we only know that they will be present in the line-up alongside the base TMAX model. This might hint towards Iwata's plans to mimic BMW in a way.

That is, replicating, to some extent, of course, the way BMW meets the needs of their customers with the C650 Sport and the C650GT versions of their maxi scooter. And maybe it's not THAT far out to guess that one of them will be a sporty scoot, whereas the other might be the "tourer," with SX and DX suffixes, respectively.

In case these suppositions turn out to be true, then it means that Yamaha is extending their recent philosophy to the maxi scooter segment. That is, using the base model as a platform and then adding various trims to it to direct the functionality or styling to the desired outcome.

Instead of engineering products that are entirely different, an OEM is, therefore, able to meet the specific demands and expectations of more customers with minimal development costs. This modus operandi has become quite common over the past years, helping manufacturers enrich their model ranges much more easily than before.

It goes without saying that having more buying options for the Yamaha TMAX is great, and we're positive that such a move will receive a warm welcome from the customers. Stay tuned for more info as we are delving deep into the matter for extra details about the upcoming maxi scooters.
