The evil turn on the Mulholland Snake got fame not because it’s an extraordinary, never-seen-before turn, but because of the hundreds of riders who want to ride like Rossi around that bend, even though they obviously are really lousy. And this Taiwan fellow is just another chap who goes down because he can’t ride.
While we’ve seen a lot of skillful riders throttling really hard around this turn and making it look easy as pie, their ranks are so much smaller than those of people who push their riding way beyond their skills’. Watching this chap and noticing his jerky throttle was more than enough to understand that his day was not heading for a happy end.
The guy was clearly not used to riding an R1, and one does not have to be a specialist to see that. Now, why was he trying to drag knee aboard a bike he obviously wasn’t mastering remains a secret. What’s not a secret though is that the bike was borrowed from some relatives he was visiting. I guess that dinner that evening was not exactly happy…
