Retro fans will be happy to receive this piece of news. Here it goes - Yamaha put out a new model derived from the XV950 (Bolt in the US) and it’s a scrambler-styled one named the SCR950.
The name itself reveals the new model is equipped with the same V-twin engine making 52 hp and 80 Nm (59 lb-ft) or torque. The chassis itself is carried over too, but it now rides higher at 145 mm, meaning you can better climb over curbs or take it for some light off-road.

The seat is also higher by 140 mm than the XV, so if you’re a shorter person, you should test it out and see if you can properly flatfoot the bike.

Returning to the off-road capabilities, the SCR950 is equipped with wire wheels (19-inch front and 17-inch at the back) wrapped in ‘heavy duty’ Bridgestone tires which are said to be ‘built to handle the street and the dirt.’ It’s true they look like they can handle a trail or two, but if you plan on taking rougher routes prepare to spend some bucks on proper knobby tires.

Continuing with the features, the bike is fitted with standard 41 mm forks at the front with 134 mm of travel and gaiters. The shocks mounted at the rear come with piggyback reservoirs and allow for 110 mm of travel as well as preload adjustment.

A slightly redesigned tear-drop gas tank has been slapped to the upper frame offering 13.2-liters of gas and is continued to the rear with a flat-shaped seat. Underneath you can see tracker-style round plates for numbering so you can add a sticker or two.

Brakes remain untouched from the sport cruiser version, but wide handlebars are on the list along with a simple LCD speedometer that comes with a smoked lens. Like it or not, Yamaha said the new SCR950 was made this simple to leave room for aftermarket tuners so you can adjust it your own taste.
