Yamaha NMAX 125 Revealed, Shows Trick Looks, Promises Great Mileage

Yamaha reveals the all-new small-displacement NMAX 125, a scoot that will make it in Europe and possibly cross the pond, as well. Adding to the existing line-up in a rather crowded market, the NMAX 125 comes with several strong points that could represent a neat incentive for new customers.

First of all, it's the MAX heritage, obviously. All of Yamaha's MAX machines boast modern looks with aggressive lines and sporty design which appeal to customers who want to be seen aboard exquisite two-wheelers.

Despite its modest 125cc displacement, the NMAX 125 is just as gorgeous as its bigger siblings, and this scores major points against the competition. The 4-stroker delivers 12 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11.7 Nm (8.6 lb-ft) of torque at 7,250 rpm, all available by means of an automatic, belt-drive transmission.

The lightweight build is a key feature

One of the coolest things about the new NMAX 125 is its weight, which promises an exceptional feel on the road. Tipping the scales at 127 kg (280 lb) wet, the Yamaha NMAX 125 is even lighter than smaller-displacement machines.

The reduced weight is helping fuel economy, of course, and Yamaha claims the NMAX 125 can do 129 mpg in normal conditions. This translates in 2.19 l/100 km and if true, this means that the NMAX 125 will be an excellent economical urban commuter.

Other features include 13" wheels, a rubber-mounted engine for less vibration, dual rear shocks, LED lights, ABS as standard and a modern digital backlit dash with a minimalist design and sleek looks.

No price was mentioned, but it looks like the Yamaha NMAX 125 will arrive in stores in June.
