Even though the Super Tenere is touted as Yamaha's flagship tourer, we all must admit it is also way too heavy, and this makes it a bad choice for truly rough terrain. Still, a 3-cylinder-based version could become a big hit, in case Yamaha gets the idea behind Oberdan Bezzi's new concept.
A Tenere based on the acclaimed MT-09 (FZ-09 in the US) would pack in several very strong selling points. First of all, it's the downsized touring machine, now in a more manageable package, smaller, lighter, with better terrainability thanks to a better power-to-weight ratio.

Then its the excellent torque deployment of the crossplane triple engine and the good blend of power and economy it brings forth.

Styling could also be consistent with Yamaha's Tenere bikes and upgraded with the modern, light and very fresh design cues of the MT-09.

And finally, with the MT-09 currently selling for just under $8,000 (€5,820) a Tenere derived from it would literally smash the competition and most likely sell like hot cakes. Team Blue, do you copy?
