Yamaha's Yard Built custom motorcycle program produces some the most intriguing results. And here's a new bike based on Iwata's XJR1300 retro big-bore racer. For this build, Yamaha chose it roCkS!bikes and asked for a machine that would celebrate XJR's 20th anniversary in a way that blends custom DNA and the vibe of the original bike.
The Portuguese company run by Osvaldo Coutinho and Alexandre Santos benefited from their training as civil engineers. The two understood the need to produce a machine that can be replicated by individual owners, and therefore set out to build a custom bike that needed no hacking and sawing.

Bolt-on parts only

Believe it or not, the CS_06 Dissident is only equipped with bolt-on parts. This means, that a customer can buy one, or two or all the parts that changed this XJR1300 so dramatically.

Just like in the case of another recent Yard Built motorcycle, Playa del Rey, the upper structure has been reworked entirely. The XJR got a monocoque bodywork that can be easily fixed on top of the frame. The handcrafted piece stretches all the way from the racey '70s front cowl to the tail section, in a fluid, flowing manner that adds to the sleek looks of the bike.

ISR brakes hardware works in conjunction with larger rotors and Hell Performance braided lines for both brakes and clutch. LSL supplied the clip-on cafe-racer bars, grips, and pegs, with M-Blaze turn signals and a high-tech MotoGadget digital dash cluster.

Engine covers on both sides have been replaced with lighter ones sporting glass windos that reveal the bike's entrails. A small, high-performance oil cooler was added to the game as well as a cafe-racer custom leather seat that clips into place. The eye candy Kineo rims are also part of the makeover, shod with Pirelli Angel GT tires.

For the paint job, it roCkS!bikes chose a classic theme, with the iconic Yamaha speed blocks and a combination of pearl white and gold. If you have an XJR1300 you'd like to transform into an instant head-turning machine, drop roCkS!bikes a line and see what they have in store for you.
