Yamaha Announces Tricity 155 Launch in Europe and Its Price

Yamaha's new three-wheeled scooter, the Tricity 155, will make it into the European dealerships this autumn, House Iwata announces. The Tricity 155 thus becomes the second member of the growing Leaning Multi Wheel family, one of the segments in which Yamaha appears to have a significant interest.

As Yamaha has a very strong division in Europe, that is where the Tricity 155 will be released, with Japan, Asia and other countries following afterward. The Tricity 155 is a global model, so we can expect to see it arriving in pretty much every country with an official Yamaha dealer.

The Tricity 155 builds on the legacy of the Tricity 125 we tested last year but introduces significant changes that take performance to the next level. The Tricity 155 is a part of Yamaha's new philosophy that was summed up in the concept of "New Standard City Commuter for greater range of mobility and pride of ownership."

The scooter has a newly-designed frame that boasts extra rigidity, and more foot board room, with the floor being now flat for better rider comfort. The BLUE CORE engine packs extra ccs and punch, while the LED headlights and position lights introduce the premium class vibe to the commuter.

With a new chassis, the cargo capabilities have also been improved, and the Tricity 155 boasts a 23.5-liter (0.83 cubic feet) underseat trunk. Another new feature is the redesigned parking brake that can be actuated more easily with the left thumb.

On the figures side, the 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine produces 14.9 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm (10.6 lb-ft) at a more usable 6,000 revs per minute. The transmission is automatic, with a belt final drive.

The front brakes use dual 220mm rotors in the front and a single 230mm unit in the rear, with 14" and 13" wheels, respectively. The Tricity 155 also comes with combined braking and ABS, and has a fuel tank capacity of 7.2 liters (1.9 US gal), with the wet weight of the ABS-equipped being 165 kg (364 lb). The Yamaha Tricity 155 has a recommended retail price of €4,499.
