When police claims they simply don’t care who you are as long as you respect the rules, they seem to be really serious about it. That serious, even leaving from your own wedding is not good enough to get away with driving under the influence of alcohol. It was the case for Xzibit who got handcuffed hours after he said “yes” to his new wife, Krista Joiner, on Sunday.
The Pimp My Ride star exchanged vows with his new wife during a ceremony near Laguna Beach, California, but things got interrupted the moment the famous rapper thought pushing the pedal shouldn’t be a problem. Xzibit partied with his wife at the reception, but never got to carry her over the threshold, as the newly weds got pulled over.
Reports are officers stopped their car for speeding and once they smelled alcohol in his breath they took him to the station. He was later released and it would seem there was no fault taken as the rapper would later on upload pictures with the ceremony.
“Yesterday was our wedding day. It was nothing short of amazing. We were surrounded by friends and family and had an outstanding ceremony. It was not tainted by negative energy and I made sure it stayed that way. There was a time I thought I would never get married. I thought that being single was the only way for me, not knowing that I was giving up more of myself to people who didn’t care about me or love me unconditionally,” Xzibit wrote on his website.
We say good for Xzibit and we wish him only the best, but we have to point out on the man’s problem with speeding. In fact, it was this summer Xzibit lost his license for a month for street racing on a public road while doing 123 mph (198 km/h). It’s true, the rapper was driving through the Gumball 3000 track to Miami, but that doesn’t mean rules are rules.
People, it’s simple: you drink, you take a cab. Especially when you know you have a heavy right foot.
