XTR Carchip Porsche Cayman X-Wide Revealed

It seems that tuners get more and more excited over their products, as German company XTR Carchip Tuning Berlin GmbH presented its Porsche Cayman project before everything was finalized.

This work in progress has a new wide-body look which consists of detachable GRP fenders, side skirts, rear side panels, front spoiler with carbon sword, new rear bumper, adjustable rear spoiler and carbon fiber mirrors. The car also has “Magnum” exhaust, upgraded suspension and 3-piece 18-inch BBS RS (with central locking) wheels wrapped with Pirelli tires.

The interior was also upgraded, as the XTR Chip’s Cayman X-Wide has a a new carbon-fiber dashboard and Recaro GT3 Seats with 6-point Schroth belts. For those who plan to go racing or roll over, the car also has a roll cage to keep the driver alive. Despite of what its looks might tell you, the Cayman is not for track use only, but mostly for road use. Therefore the car still has the original air conditioning and audio system.

Though everything seems complete, one important part of this project in not ready yet: the engine did not get enough attention as did the new Porsche looks.

The power plant only got a chip tuning which helps it produce 320 bhp now and reach a 285 km/h top speed. According to the tuner, things are definitely not stopping here, as it plans to unveil the final version in the spring of 2010 in the form of a Twin-Turbo 850 bhp monster. That seems a bit too much for a road use car, doesn’t it?
