The Golf GTI is turning 35 his year, so GTI35.com decided to celebrate the event by launching an anniversary model based on the current 6th generation GTI. German tuning company Wunschel Sport received the commission to make a car that's worthy of the event.

The biggest improvement made to the car in our opinion is the addition of a few extra horsepower that were tweaked out of the regular 2.0-liter engine using ECU remapping witchcraft. The tuner managed to pull a total of 50 extra hp from the engine, which means that instead of 210 hp and 280 Nm of torque, it now produces a respectable 260 hp and 360 Nm of torque.

The new output makes Wunschel’s GTI almost half a second faster than the standard model, meaning that it dashes to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.4 seconds, while top speed is now 255 km/h.

On the aesthetics side of things, the 2011 Golf GTI has been fitted with a set of 19 inch OZ Racing Quaranta alloys wrapped in high performance tires. The OZ wheel set is also the perfect visual fit for this car, thanks to its special innovative styling featuring - an offset combination of five-spoke and cross-spoke designs. It is painted exactly the same titanium shade as the exterior of the GTI.

"The first VW Golf GTI invented the class of sporty compact cars in 1976. Today, 35 years later, the sixth generation still sets the class standards. For the anniversary there now is an exclusive special model from GTI35.com, for which WUNSCHEL SPORT served as highly competent tuning partner," GTI35 says.

The very special model from GTI35.com is sold as a complete car starting at €32,800, including 19% VAT payed in Germany. All components are also available separately.
