After preparing various set of kits for BMW’s S 1000 RR (Poisoned Arrow and Piranha) and for the F 800 GS (Caiman Bite), the German aftermarket experts at Wunderlich decided to offer enhanced protection for trunk and side panels of the R 1200 RT.

Wunderlich's new crash protector made from tubular steel for BMW touring motorcycles offers protection for original RT motorcycle bags, while also providing a visual improvement to these machines.

“What has long been in standard use for official service motorcycles is now available for domestic use. Made from rigid, seamless precision tubular steel, BMW specialists have collaborated with partners, Hepco & Becker, to develop a crash bar that protects the side panels and bag of the RT against bumps and crashes,” a company statement reads.

“At the same time, the bars are so discreet that they impede neither the rider's nor the passengers mobility. The easy operation of the original bag also remains unimpeded,”
the statement continued.

In addition to that, the bars can also be used to attach further accessories or luggage. The complete set (for both sides) comes with a silver- or black-coated finish or is available with a chrome-plated finish (including installation kit and instructions for installation).

The BMW R 1200 RT develops 81 kW (110 hp) at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 120 Nm (88 lb-ft) at 6,000 rpm. ESA II Electronic Suspension Adjustment with damping, spring base and spring rate adjustable at the touch of a button are also included. Furthermore, BMW Motorrad Integral ABS and hard-shell cases (each with a capacity of 32 liters) are featured as standard.
