Wrenchmonkees Laverda SF 750

If anything Laverda motorcycles are truly rare today, so seeing the Danish bike magicians reunited under the Wrenchmonkees’ banner bestowing their skill on one is a truly wonderful occasion to check them out after some time.

The donor bike is a Laverda SF 750, but there is not too much left from the original bike to be recognized. Still, the engine is in its stock trim, with the standard Dell’Orto PHF carburetors and with aluminium velocity stacks. The ignition was changed with a Dyna Bubble Ignition coild and DMC ignition box and plate, for updated performance.

This laverda also retains the original frame, even though it has been shortened a bit in the rear. The whole chassis was cleaned and received a metallic black paint job. The swingarm was transformed for accommodating the monoshock suspension. The rear unit comes from a Yamaha R6, adn the frame adjustments have also been made in-house.

In the front, work was needed, as well. Wrenchmonkees lowered Laverda’s original suspensions by 30mm (one inch) and loaded the stanchions with Wirth progressive springs. The trees are standard, but have also been cleaned up and repainted in the traditional matte tones of the Danish garage. Motocicli Veloce clip-on bars were installed, while the rearsets come from Tarozzi.

The brakes got a complete overhaul and original hubs were also kept, but with new, stainless steel spokes on new 18” aluminium rims, now shod with Pirelli BT45 tires. Except the Motogadget Tiny gauge, the rest of the bike was complete with Wrenchmonkees originals: headlight, LED turns and tail light, aluminium battery box and a full rewiring. Finally, a front fender was created to match the awesome custom fuel tank the Wrenchmonkees crafted for this bike. Too bad the bike is already gone…
