Would You Like to Own a Solar Power Plant in Japan? Who Wouldn’t...

You don’t have to be a genius to realize that electricity will be the currency of the future. Also, unless something truly catastrophic happens, we can always rely on the sun to provide plenty of energy just waiting to be transformed into that much-needed electric current.

Let’s just assume Elon Musk isn’t reading this and imagine that electric cars won’t catch on eventually. Will that be such a terrible blow for those in the business of creating electric power? Considering how everything else around you requires being plugged in at least once in a while to work, it’s safe to say that no, it won’t be.

And, besides, can you really imagine the automotive industry heading in a different direction now? The car makers aren’t the kind of companies that will easily change their ways, and yet look at what has happened over the last ten years. Is there one self-respecting brand that doesn’t offer at least one hybrid model?

So if a safe investment is what you’re after, you can’t go wrong with something that generates power out of thin air (with the help of a few photons). Forget about the stock market, forget about real estate and forget about buying a classic car: electricity is the future. Well, the present, but also the future.

Guess what? Us talking about the benefits of farming the solar power isn’t exactly a coincidence. Bloomberg reports that West Energy Solutions Inc. (funny name for a company operating in Japan) is currently developing a 500-kilowatt solar power plant near the infamous city of Hiroshima.

The plant is expected to begin its operations in November this year, and since this is Japan and not anywhere else in the world, you can set your clock to that estimate.

The station will be auctioned online on Yahoo Japan’s members-only site where selected bidders will be able to make their offers between February 12 and 19. The starting price for the solar power station is set at 161 million yen (about $1.3 million), which isn’t even that much if you consider the stupid things people spend that kind of money on.
