Would You Fancy a Volkswagen Phaeton Variant Looking Like This?

The world would no doubt be a very boring place without automotive designers, and we're not talking about those working for big-name manufacturers.
No, we are talking about the kind of photo manipulators like Theophilus Chin, who, besides imagining Audi pickup trucks and modern Volkswagen Corrados, also loves to draw a sleek estate from time to time.

So, the VW C Coupé GTE will spawn a production model in China, after its reveal at the Auto Shanghai 2015. That's a pretty solid reason for Chin to get his imagination going and come up with an estate version for what will most likely be the next Phaeton.

If VW bosses were ever to consider a Phaeton Variant, Chin's proposal is, as we're already used to, worthy of consideration. Why? Simply because the artist did a good job in stretching the prototype and giving it even more interior space, without jerking around with the C Coupé GTE's original lines. At least, that's what we think, but taste is not to be disputed, so you're free to dismiss or approve Chin's renderings.

It's rather hard to say if Volkswagen plans or will plan on building such a car, but the C Coupé GTE will go into production, but only for China. As usual, it will borrow plenty of design elements from the prototype, but will also receive some of the technology the concept wore in Shanghai.

Hence, we should expect a hybrid powertrain built around a four-cylinder TSI engine and an electric motor but the sedan will be produced locally in China.
