World’s Only Jet-Engined Barbecue: the Turbaque

Over the years, we’ve seen jet engines strapped to all sorts of contraptions, but never before have we came across such a propulsion method used to... cook meat. Yes, we are here to talk about a jet-engined barbecue.

Aptly named the Turbaque, this is (according to the its maker) “the only fully functioning BBQ in the world to have a jet engine for extra taste and brilliance.” In case you are wondering who came up with such an idea, you should know the project belongs to a guy named Colin Furze.

Colin is rather famous on the Internet thanks to a project he made public back in May and we’re referring to his home-made Wolverine Claws here. Just like back then, the jet-engined barbecue is a DIY project and the man is so kind as to explain how you can build your own engine of this kind - he’s even video documented the trip to the salvage yard where he got the parts from.

The clip below shows the Turbaque doing its thing - the British weather stood between Colin and his gastronomical experiment, so he decided to pull the stunt indoors. While the result may or may not have not been checked by the Health and Safety Department, it definitely looks interesting!

In case you happen to have too much food, Colin also provides a solution. The builder doesn’t mention this in the clip, but we haven’t forgotten he built a bicycle. Oh wait, you won’t burn too many calories in that one, it’s obviously jet-powered. It seems you’re on your own here.
