If you’re in the market for a large business jet that is the very definition of “bling,” today is your lucky day. It seems that the royal family of Qatar is unloading one of the two Boeing 747-8 planes from their impressive fleet.
Known generically as the Qatar Amiri fleet, it includes, in addition to the two Boeing 747-8 in a business jet configuration, more than a dozen other planes. If you travel a lot, especially to cities known for their luxury shops, you’ve probably seen them parked at the airport.
For whatever reason, the family has decided to part ways with one of the Boeings. It has gone up for sale on specialized listing sites – no sale price is given, but if you’re interested, you can place a call to the AMAC Aerospace in Switzerland to make an offer.
For the record, the starting price of a “naked” Boeing 747-8 without the customizations is around $370 million. So be prepared to dig deeper than that in your pockets if you want this one.
Built in 2012 on the Boeing assembly line in Everett, the plane was fitted with a VVIP interior by Boeing San Antonio in 2014, and was ready for its first flight in January 2015. Speaking of flying, it hasn’t done much of that: this aircraft has only 436 flight hours for 200 cycles, which is almost nothing at all.
Initially meant to carry 467 people, the modified plane can seat 76 passengers and an 18-people crew, and is decorated in blue, gold and white.
It includes a total of 10 bathrooms on both floors, a large master bedroom with a kingsize bed, and a luxurious dining room that doubles as a conference room. In addition to several lounges (staterooms and meeting rooms), it also includes an actual miniature hospital, where surgeries can be performed. You know, should the situation arise.
Not a bad deal for this kind of money.
