World’s First Hybrid Tank-Quadcopter is a 15-Minute Joy

What is light enough in driving across difficult terrain? A tank. What is fast enough to surpass ground obstacles? Aircraft. What makes this drone special? It does both. What does it have in common with cars? The UAV’s creator is the same guy who made the flying car featured in Expendables 3.

B-Unstoppable is meant to be the world’s first hybrid drone that is both a fast tank while on the ground, and an agile quadcopter while in the air. The transformation is at a push of a button, literally.

As we said, it appears that the car-drone used in the acclaimed action movie was that famous, its creator decided to make a new model for public use. Apparently, B-Unstoppable achieves outstanding performance in driving across difficult terrain. It can turn on the spot, which is useful in limited space since it provides 360 views from the onboard camera.

However, when obstacles become too big, it can simply take-off and fly over them. The model weighs only 84 grams; therefore it can be operated nearly everywhere, without the worry of falling and causing damages to others or to the model itself.

In terms of specs, things look rather promising. B-unstoppable can fly for up to nine minutes and 12 to 18 minutes driving while a combined endurance offers a range of 12 to 15 minutes. It has powerful coreless DC motors, 900 mAh Li-po battery and features a 2.4 GHz radio transmitter. Its front and black lights allow for night flying while it’s sensor will also indicating the low battery level.

The hybrid drone has the same major setback that most of the UAVs on the market suffer from, which is battery range. This one, in particular, is currently on Kickstarter, so there’s no promise it’s ever going to be available for purchase. We do appreciate the inventor’s idea.
