When you think of a Rolls Royce, the last thing that should come to mind is a roll cage, a Chevrolet V8 engine and the smell of dragster fuel. Yet this is exactly what makes the car that’s coming to Santa Pod’s Flame and Thunder event on October 29th so exciting and unique.
The gentlemen’s dragster comes in the form of Matt Wright’s Crewe-build 1974 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. Instead of the 6750 cc engine that the car brought in its stock form, it now packs a 10-liter Chevrolet V8.
The sea of leather has been replaced by a bit of scaffolding - a bespoke Chrome-Moly twin tube chassis, suspension and braking system that cuts the over two-ton weight by a significant margin.
