"World's First" C8 Corvette Rental Car Costs $334 Per Day, Boasts Vossen Wheels

As you’re already aware, very few production-spec examples of the C8 Corvette have left the Bowling Green plant in Kentucky thus far. The health crisis, however, ain’t got nothing on Travis from Turo who’s renting his 3LT Z51 to whoever is prepared to pony up $334 per day to experience the mid-engine sports car.

VIN 195 is a fully-loaded example of the breed, finished in Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic over white-and-black suede on the GT2 sports seats. Even the engine cover and bay are spruced up, along with Vossen double-spoke rims.

Also specified with red seatbelts and Carbon Flash Metallic garnish for the exterior, this fellow is further described as the “world’s first C8 rental car.” Travis says that he’s experienced tons of sporty cars since he started driving “but this is truly on another level. Driving the C8 is what I imagine driving a Formula 1 racecar is like.” Well, that's pretty much wishful thinking.

Not only does F1 feature a hybridized and turbocharged V6 power unit, but the single-seater's interior isn’t upholstered and you’re treated to no driving aids whatsoever. If you push the brakes too hard, you’re gonna overcook it into the gravel trap. The same applies to how the tires work, and frankly, even the transmissions are very different.

Turning our attention back to the Turo C8 Corvette, the owner further mentions that guests under 30 will go through additional safety checks and that you must be over 25 years to book the mid-engine sports car. In the guidelines section, Travis highlights that smoking isn’t allowed. Those who return the ‘Vette smelling like Marlboro will be fined up to $250 and possibly have their Turo accounts suspended.

On an ending note, the owner of a C7 Corvette Z06 who drove the C8 Stingray Z51 left a particularly interesting review on the host’s Turo. “This car exceeds the hype. If you’re on the edge, just do it; you won’t regret it.”

Looking through the host’s fleet, we can point out that Travis also owns a Tesla Model S ($103 per day), Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT ($119), Jaguar F-Type V6 ($149), Porsche Boxster ($89), and a Nissan 370Z ($49). So yeah; it’s funny how it's more expensive to rent the C8 than European exotica.
