World's Fastest Electric Motorcycle Breaks Its Own Speed Record, Hits 283 MPH

The new speed record was set at Kennedy Space Center's Launch and Landing Facility on November 22nd. Voxan's bike claimed the new world record in the "partially streamlined electric motorcycle under 300 kg" class, hitting 283.182 mph (455.737 kph) with Max Biaggi at the helm.

The Voxan Wattman's speed was assessed from a flying start across 0.62 miles (1 km) in opposite directions during a two-hour period, in accordance with Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme regulations. The final speed that counts is the average of the two speeds obtained throughout these two runs.

A day earlier, a non-streamlined version of the Wattman without its fairing was also put to the test on the track. The final speed broke another record as the bike achieved a speed of 229.675 mph (369.626 kph) in the "non-streamlined electric motorcycle under 300 kg" class.

In total, Voxan's electric motorcycle broke 21 speed records between November 18th and November 23rd. The achievements were possible thanks to the recent upgrades brought to the Wattman. Its battery design (which is both mechanical and electric) helped reduce its weight and allowed the machine to compete in the new class.

The bike now delivers more power as it relies on the Mercedes EQ Formula E powertrain, which produces 429 hp (320 kW) and 1,360 Nm of torque. The new Wattman also has a longer wheelbase and an increased seat height, which improves stability and air penetration.
