BMW just announced its line-up for the impending Shanghai Auto Show that is scheduled to kick off on April 20. As it turns out, the BMW booth will be animated by a world premiere, four Asian premieres and two Chinese premieres.
The world debut will be the X5 xDrive40e, the first plug-in hybrid car sold by BMW under its blue and white roundel marketing branch. The SUV will be showcased in one of the most polluted cities in the world, showing potential Chinese customers that there are alternatives available to normal ICE powered cars.

The Asian premieres will be represented by the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer and the new BMW 1 Series. While the former is a brand new model that uses front-wheel drive and offers seating for up to 7 people, the latter is a facelift for the cheapest model in the range.

In its short life-span, the 1 Series was already sold in over 2 million units, and it continues to sell like hot cakes. With the new design and added standard features, the 1er should be a great offer in the range, especially since its rivals all use front-wheel drive.

As for the Chinese premieres, the 6 Series range will take up this task, the facelift models being brought out in all their glory, including an M6 Gran Coupe. The changes on the new 6ers are rather slim, especially on the M models that can only be distinguished from their predecessors by the headlights.

On the regular 6 Series range, the changes can also be noticed on the bumpers and in the standard equipment they get. From now on all cars will get LED headlamps for free and other stuff that used to be extra in the past.

Other cars that are available for your viewing pleasure on the floor of the Shanghai Auto Show 2015 will include the BMW i models. On top of that, two-wheel amateurs will get the chance to witness the Asian premiere of the new BMW R 1200 R and S 1000 RR models. Stay tuned as we’ll be covering the show live starting with April 20.
