We’ve got a world-first for you: the Inside Roll, a new and really nuts trick from Spanish FMX rider Marc Pinyol. One of the things we love best when it comes to freestyle motocross is that this sport is constantly developed with the addition of new tricks on an almost monthly basis.
From the initial plain jumps to the intricate mid-air display of crazier and crazier stunts, the FMX culture has proven to be one of the most creative motorcycles sports of modern days, and by all means, one of the most spectacular. The Inside Roll is one of the high-difficulty tricks which involve the separation of rider and bike, requiring exceptional (read perfect) management of both body and motorcycle impulses and direction.
The Inside Roll looks hard to perform, but in reality it is even harder
Marc Pinyol himself says that the trick proved to be even harder than himself anticipated in the first place. "This trick was harder than I expected. Bad moments, injuries and a lot of work behind it but finally it's here," a happy Pinyol told freestylextreme.
FMX experts say that the Inside Roll is similar to the trick called the California Roll, but the similarities sort of stop here. Unlike the California Roll, the Inside Roll starts with the rider leaning forward towards and above the bike, having to pass his left foot over the handlebars upon returning to the landing position.
We played back the video several times to understand exactly what’s going on with the Inside Roll and it looks like this will get Pinyol quite a lot of accolades when performed in front of larger audiences. Again, it’s really inspiring seeing the way FMX riders never cease to raise the bar and create stranger, more dangerous and mind-boggling tricks. How’s that for a reason for those who claim they don’t understand this sport?
