We’ve seen the press release photos for the M6 LCI model a while back but up until now we didn’t get the chance to see the powerful coupe dressed up in Austin Yellow. The 2015 Detroit Auto Show gave us that opportunity and we were impressed.
Developed initially solely for the new BMW M4, the Austin Yellow cue is one of the best looking ones in the current offering from BMW alongside Yas Marina Blue and Sakhir Orange. The best part about them is that they don’t require a hefty premium to be had.

Getting back to the M6 at hand here, it was the only Coupe part of the extended revised 6 Series on display at Detroit. The Convertible and Gran Coupe body styles were represented by 650i models.

To differentiate the facelifted M6 from the previous model takes a keen eye and attention to details. Unlike the 6 Series where the front bumper also received a small nip and tuck, the M version can only be told apart using the headlights.

The new ones come with LED technology as standard and have a different corona ring design. They also seem to be rounder in shape thanks to the new styling.

Under the bonnet everything remained the same, the 4.4-liter V8 being kept on until the end of production. That means that you’ll still have to get by with ‘only’ 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. If that’s not enough you can get the Competition Package that takes the power up to 575 HP or even turn to some tuner.

The car will go on sale in the US this spring with a small price increase believed to be somewhere around a couple hundred dollars.
