Just as we were telling you earlier, the BMW 2 Series Convertible was just unveiled, ahead of the Paris Motor Show. The car will be making its live world debut in the capital city of France but in the meantime, we can take a look at it online.
The car that is supposed to replace the BMW E83 1 Series Convertible will complete the 2 Series range for now. From the outside, apart from the roof, there’s little to set it apart from the Coupe. However, unlike it’s brother, the droptop will have different lines to choose from.

The 2 Series Convertible will be available in Advantage, Luxury Line, Sport Line and M Sport, each with a specific look and features. The Advantage line offers features such as the multifunction steering wheel, Cruise Control with braking function, PDC and fog lamps while other packages come with their own optionals, this being the cheapest, entry-level choice.

The Sport and Luxury lines will bring 17-inch wheels, ambient lighting, sliding armrests, special door sill strips, seat upholstery, interior trims and car key designs. The M Sport version though is the most expensive and adds even more features.

Compared to its predecessor, the new 2 Series is longer by 72 millimeters and wider by 26 millimeters with the front track having 41 extra millimeters to brag with while the rear track has 2 more. The luggage compartment now has a total of 335 liters with the top up and 280 with the top down. Speaking of folding the roof, the operation takes 20 seconds and can be done at speeds up to 50 km/h (30 mph). Oh, and you can now also choose the color of your roof between Black, Anthracite with silver effect and Brown.

The engines available at first will be similar to the choices on the Coupe. The entry-level model will be the 220i with a 2-liter turbocharged petrol unit making 184 HP and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque. The acceleration times are quoted as being 7.5 seconds for the manual and 7.6 seconds for the automatic.

The 220d will be using the new generation of diesel engines and will be pushing 190 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels, getting to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7.5 seconds (0.1 seconds faster with the automatic).

Up next we have the 228i with its 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine making 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. It will take such a car fitted with the standard 6-speed manual gearbox 6.1 seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph) and 0.1 seconds less for an automatic.

Last, but not least, we have the M Performance model, the M235i. With its 3-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine making 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, this beauty will go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.2 seconds (5 seconds with the automatic).
