Here's Rover, Works Electric's e-Scooter, a properly green commuter machine which seems ot have already created a large fan base, despite its not-exactly-cheap price.
The Rover brings in a re-interpretation of an old idea, but has refined the design to add a more modern touch. The endeavor seems successful, as the aluminium hand-crafted vehicle looks very neat, though some might not like the spartan, minimalist design.

However, there's more function-over-form factor involved, as the battery pack is located in the very deck for an extremely low center of gravity. The clip-on handles are bth good-looking and functional as the Rover sports a folding design which makes it easy to store or carry in the trunk.

Works Electric has two versions, the Rover and Rover BR, and their have different specs. The base model offers 28 mph (45 km/h) and should offer an 18-mile range (29 km), while the BR, which is also more expensive, delivers 35 mph (56 km/h) and a 30-mile range (48 km).

It looks like the 2013 production is already sold out, and the waiting line stretches out in 2014. If you're in the Portland area, drop Works Electric a line and schedule a test ride.

Works Electric Rover is $4,790 (€3,480), while the Rover BR is $5,920 (€4,300).
