A report from Edmunds says work has already started on transforming the Cascada into a US-market compatible model and of course making it a Buick. There's no word on when the transformation will be ready, but the insiders who spoke to Edmunds say it will be soon.

Since this is Buick's first convertible in a very long time, they are probably going to want to put their best foot forwards, offering the best engines possible. That means the 2-liter 259-hp unit from the Buick Regal Turbo is a likely carryover.

The convertible four-seater was launched last September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and earlier this month it also received a new 1.6-liter turbo engine rated at 200 PS (197-hp US).

Editor's note: the Cascada could be GM's best convertible… since the Saab 9-3 Cabrio.
