Sometimes, all you need is a bit of luck. One female biker from China got a massive helping of good luck last week, when she was hit and ran over by a truck, and she survived with only minor injuries.
CCTV footage of the crash is available at the bottom of the page. It’s something like in “Final Destination,” except that the outcome is different: not only was the woman not killed, but she actually walked on her own feet from the scene of the crash.
The accident occurred in Xinyi, south China’s Guangdong Province, the Daily Mail says, citing reports from the local media. The woman was driving down Chengnan Huandao Road at about 4:14pm on her moped, and was hit from behind by a truck whose driver had clearly not seen her.
She’s thrown off her bike and then thrown under the truck, but to her luck, she’s not ran over under the wheels. That’s why, when the truck passes her and finally comes to a stop, she’s able to get up on her own. She’s clearly shocked and shook, but she’s not seriously harmed.
You can also see she banged her head when she went under the truck, but the good news is that she was wearing a helmet and that absorbed some of the shock of the hit. Let this serve as a reminder to all of us to wear protective gear when we’re out riding motorcycles, scooters and even bikes. Obviously, you never know when we might come across someone who’s not paying attention to the road, and our life hangs in the balance, with the helmet making the difference between life and death.
And since we’re on the topic of luck, even authorities tell the Chinese media they’re surprised the woman walked away with only bruises and scratches. Had she been thrown down a few inches to either side, and the results could have been disastrous.
