More details into an incident that occurred in mid-November in Springfield, Missouri have emerged, and they show just how cold-hearted a female driver was in regards to another’s safety and well-being.
Elizabeth McKeown, 46, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action after she rammed her car into another vehicle and then into the driver, who got out to inspect the damage. Court documents obtained by the Springfield News-Leader reveal the flippant remarks she made to the cops about the accident she caused in a fit of road rage.
McKeown was apprehended by members of the public after she tried to flee the scene of the crime, only to crash into another car farther down the road. When the police arrived, she told officers she became angry when Barbara E. Foster, 57, wouldn’t move from her path – McKeown was in a hurry to get to the bank to make her car payment.
Because Foster wouldn’t move her car, she nudged it with her Ford Mustang, McKeown admitted to the cops. Then, when Foster got out of the vehicle to inspect the damage, she hit her with the car and dragged her for some distance. Foster’s body was cut in half, court documents show.
“McKeown allegedly told police she ‘tricked’ Foster into thinking she would be still and then she ‘slammed into her and cut her in half.’ A witness allegedly told police he yelled at McKeown that she had hit someone, and McKeown responded by mouthing the words, ‘I know’,” the publication writes.
McKeown dragged her victim 58 feet before she crashed. She didn’t seem sorry or shocked when the police arrived, but still angry at the delay.
If found guilty, McKeown faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. She won’t be making any car payments anytime soon, so she won’t be in such a hurry ever again.
