While the 2008 model was a screw on sensor, the new generation of tire pressure monitors are designed for permanent installation on the inside of the rims. The previous model could not be installed on certain bikes mostly due to clearance issues. On the other hand, there were riders looking for a permanent, more stable and accident-proof solution, so the new sensor valves seem to nail it.

However, due to its very design, the new Wireless Tire Pressure Monitoring System can be installed on tubeless rims, and owners of motorcycles still using tube rims looking for pressure monitors still have to install the old version.

Installation is very simple, all one has to do is remove the existing valve and have the BBP Wireless Tire Pressure Monitoring System valve in its place. These sensors will accommodate the stem holes on both Harley and Metric rims.

The pressure monitor is quite small and can be carried inside a pocket or hanged with the keys on a neck lanyard. It will beep and vibrate when pressure or temperature exceeds preset values. The minimal and maximal pressure values are user-definable and range between 10-50 psi (0.68-3.44 bar) and 21-60 psi (1.44-4.13 bar), respectively. Temperature range is 104-210F (40-98.8 Celsius).

The sealed battery inside the valves should provide 5-7 years of service life. The BBP Wireless Tire Pressure Monitoring System retails for $249.95 (€193.3) a set.
