Winter Would Be Much More Fun with One of These Vehicular Mutants

We would say winter is like Marmite, but that would probably leave most of the population of this globe in the dark, so we'll just go for the classic expression instead: it's one of those things you either love or you hate.
It's not like mountains of frozen water that fall from the sky and cover everything around are something you can ignore. Nor is the biting cold air that forces you to cover yourself up in layer after layer until you realize you'd better stop because, should the need to urinate arise, you wouldn't have enough time to take everything off before the stream starts to flow.

Yeah, unless you're a kid, a dog or somebody who enjoys skiing, winter is a big pain in the butt. Sure, the scenery with the leafless trees covered in snow is great, but it's only great for a few moments - the snow, on the other hand, will need a few days or even more to melt, so in the end it's not really worth it.

It's also quite expensive. Those warm jackets and insulated boots don't come cheap, and we haven't even gotten to our vehicles. Winter driving is the reason invoked by some for buying an SUV they are forced to drive over the rest of the year as well, burning unnecessary fuel and having bigger operating costs in general.

You also need to shop for winter tires, special windshield washer fluid, a shovel to dig you out of trouble, a brush of some sorts to clear the snow off the car, a check-up at the local service center to make sure you're not left stranded in the middle of nowhere to freeze to an agonizing death - Should we go on?

But it's not all that bleak. Driving in the snow has its perks, especially if you'd be doing it in one of these winter-proof vehicles. The guys at Carbuyer came up with five sports cars conversions that would each make a very good companion throughout the cold season.

We'll start with the Lamborghini Aventador which is fitted with a snow plow, but only because it also received a lift kit. Otherwise, it could have been used for clearing up the snow without any added accessory. In case it wasn't clear, that's a joke about its wedgy shape.

The Ferrari GTC4 gets the most straightforward makeover: it's simply turned into a tiny all-conquering monster truck. Yup, we approve. At the other end of the scale, we have the Caterham 620 snowmobile. The miniature British sports car had its front wheels replaced by a pair of skis as well as a "HO HO HO" license plate. Fun, no question about it, but pack some extra warm clothing.

The Audi TT RS Sport Quattro is probably the least over the top rendering of the bunch, despite the German coupe packing enough lights on its bumper to replace the floodlights on a football field. Other than that, racing the all-wheel-drive Audi in the snow with the proper tires is not something we'd say no to.

Finally, we have the Mercedes-AMG Unimog GT, a jacked-up, more rugged version of the Affalterbach sports car with big plastic fender flares to cover those huge off-road tires. A few lights on the roof and a massive, not very discreet front skid plate complete the look while we can only hope it also comes with an all-wheel-drive system of sorts.
