Winning 1/4-Mile Races in the Tesla Model S P100D Is Getting This Easy Now

It could be argued that the point of drag racing isn't to buy an expensive car and race is stock, but to build your own custom vehicle specifically designed for this type of competitions. That may be correct, but somewhere down the line winning became much more important than any of that, so these days it's a case of "whatever it takes."
And in a lot of situations, what it takes is a brand new Tesla Model S electric vehicle. The luxury sedan that weighs over two tons and, in some configurations, can seat up to seven people - OK, five people and two kids - has quickly made a name for itself on the quarter-mile drag strip thanks to its performance figures.

The introduction of the Ludicrous mode turned the already fast dual-motor Model S EVs into veritable monsters. An intelligent system that makes sure as much as possible of the power and torque developed by the two motors is put on the asphalt with zero wheelspin is enough to transform the Model S into a veritable giant killer. Nissan GT-Rs, Lambos, muscle cars - whatever you can think of, this car has had them.

About one month ago, the Model S officially became the quickest production car to the 60 mph (97 km/h) mark with its 2.5 seconds time, which means it should be even more of a monster on the drag strip. In reality, the differences from a P90D aren't that great, but since this is a competition where every tenth of a second counts, it's all welcome.

Here we see our guy from the Tesla Racing Channel go against two mean-looking cars: a Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06, and a Cadillac CTS-V, with the latter apparently requesting a rolling start. Not that it mattered that much, as the Tesla driver actually had the time to cross the line with no hands on the wheel as if to say "yeah, it really is THIS easy." So, it's internal combustion engines zero, Tesla electric sedan... we've actually lost count, so we'll go with "a lot."
