Wingless 2017 Camaro ZL1 Prototype Spotted: Chevy Working to Prevent Heat Soak?

While spotting a go-fast prototype might be easy, getting to the bottom of the story beneath the camo is a different story. Case in point with the sixth-gen Chevrolet Camaro prototype in the images below.

The muscle car was spotted by Redditor _Blade, who put his trust in the lack of extreme aero parts and the SS seats, initially believing he had come across a Camaro SS test car.

Nevertheless, the obviously blown soundtrack he shortly witnessed changed everything, as we are, most likely, dealing with a 2017 Camaro ZL1 prototype here. But first, let's hear what the aficionado had to say: "Shortly after these pictures were taken a couple got in and started it up. It made a beautiful noise and is of obviously supercharged. They looked like they were in a hurry, or I would have asked to peek under the hood. Oh well!"

Going past the innocence of that description's final part, we'll mention that the lack of the ZL1-specific wing or skirts shouldn't be trusted and we can say the same about the SS seats. We are, after all, talking about a parts bin toy here, with the most likely version being an early ZL1 mule.

You see, while GM may have introduced the 2017 Camaro ZL1 over the web, the muscle machine is not out of the oven yet - we mean this in a literal sense, as we expect Chevrolet engineers to be conducting hot weather testing.

Since the ZL1 borrows its LT1 from the C7 Corvette Z06 and the supercar has had its fair share of overheating issues, it would make full sense for the automaker to ensure the 640 hp mill (this is the ZL1 rating) no longer faces such problems.

Fortunately for those of you who into details, you can easily zoom in on this factory-blown Camaro thanks to the image gallery below.
