Wines by Indianapolis Motor Speedway

We know it sounds strange when you think of drinking and driving (in this case, drinking and riding) , but there is no reason not to enjoy a glass of wine when you are not planning to gear up and hit the roads.

So, let’s welcome the partnership between the EOS Estate Winery and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which recently announced the production of a limited series of reserve wine offerings.

“The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was in search of a producer of quality, outstanding wines to help us celebrate our Centennial Era in 2009 and beyond, and we found that in EOS Estate Winery,” said Joie Chitwood, president and chief operating officer of IMS.

“We’re confident the limited Indianapolis Motor Speedway series produced by EOS will find its way into the collection of wine connoisseurs as well as the dinner table of casual wine enthusiasts.”

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2006 Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2006 “Brickyard Red” Paso Robles Red Varietal Blend were the two wines already released, while additional wines in the series are expected later in 2009.

The legend of “The Brickyard” has been forged through the Indianapolis 500, the largest single-day sporting event in the world, and has expanded through other annual world-class motorsports events at the track, including the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and Red Bull Indianapolis GP.

“It was very important to us that our team crafted wines for this program that both represented the prestigious history of the Speedway and reinforced the excitement and promise of our association with IMS,”
says Chris Vix, vice president of international sales at EOS Estate Winery.

Through this limited edition of wines, the Speedway celebrates its Centennial Era, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the facility in 2009 and the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race in 2011.
