Wind Powered Car is Real But Only Comes as a Toy

As feeding on dinosaur juice won’t cut it anymore, human kind is trying to find alternative ways of powering its vehicles. The best solution so far is electricity, but that isn’t growing on trees. We know that wind mills can create electric current but how about putting the mill on the vehicle itself? I mean, it worked for solar panels, right?

Although just a toy, you can actually build a wind-powered car. There’s a kit you can buy on Amazon shipping with all the instructions needed and a comprehensive manual to teach you about the power of the wind.

The kit contains a dismantled lightweight three-wheeler and a wind mill which connect to become a working little autonomous vehicle. The rotor actually has a tail to get directed into the wind’s direction so the car can maintain its heading.

Not sure if it’s generating electricity or it has a mechanical link with gears to turn the wheels but it does seem to work quite well on small scale. The man in the video below proves it using a hair drier from different sides.

Of course, this won’t work on a real car too soon because you need an extremely strong and very light material to build it as well as enough wind blowing everywhere. There’s a slight chance to work for crossing a dried lake or other similar landscape but we’ll let you draw the conclusions for yourself.

At least it makes for a cool toy to keep your kids busy for a while...
