The contemporary world of hot hatches has given birth to some amazing creatures that use power levels and offer performances which were previously only reserved to proper sports cars.

This offers tuners the perfect occasion to create some amazing projects and this is exactly what the specialists at Wimmer have done.

The company has upgraded the VW Golf R, offering the vehicle an output that is worthy of the supercar class. The German hatch’s turbocharged 2.0l TFSI unit has been upgraded from 270 hp and 350 Nm to an impressive 478 hp and 610 Nm of torque.

Dubbed the RED DEVIL V, the car offers a power/weight ratio of 3.04 kg/hp and can reach a top speed of 181 mph(291 km/h).

To achieve this massive output, the engine has been fitted with a new turbocharger (new pipes included), injectors, connecting rods, lamp coating cylinder head, intercooler, additional fuel oil heater, air intake, crank shaft, oil pump, second low pressure fuel pump, sport camshafts, handmade high-grade steel sports exhaust with a diameter of 84 mm and a 100 cells sports catalyst converter, as well as a race sport coupling. The tuner has also remapped the ECU.

To be able to handle all that power and torque, the car has been fitted with a new suspension (coil springs and helical spring set) that can lower the vehicle. Wimmer RS also offers an optional high performance braking system.

Standing by a power-circulating gear testing machine show the profs from Solingen, what the car is capable of: Thorsten Wimmer and his crew make the model Golf 6 R race, on the high-speed line and autobahn. The RED DEVIL V is not only fast, but also runs stable,” stated the press release.
