Williams Duo Top Second Practice in Spain

Williams F1 drivers Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima topped the second practice session at Circuit de Catalonia on Friday, while followed by crowd's favorite Fernando Alonso in 3rd place. But then again, that's no news for the Grove based team, since Rosberg has so far proven very difficult to beat in the pre-race Friday action this year.

The session started with a quick lap by Renault's Nelsinho Piquet, but the Brazilian driver was quickly disposed of 1st place by Nakajima. Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel began his challenge for a top spot on Friday shortly after the 25-minute mark, but it was the same Nakajima to respond quick enough to secure 1st place.

In the last part of the practice session, Nico Rosberg went on set the fastest time of the day, 1:21.588, 0.152 quicker than his teammate. Hadn't it been for a wrong approach of Turn 10 in his last flying lap, Rosberg could have ended the day with an even faster time.

Fernando Alonso managed to score an impressive 3rd place later on, only 0.041 seconds behind Nakajima, but ahead of the Brawn GP & Red Bull duos Rubens Barrichello/Jenson Button and Mark Webber/Sebastian Vettel respectively.

Piquet had to settle for 8th place after a difficult second part of the practice session, as he paid no less than 2 visits to the runoff and was close to damaging his car at Campsa.

McLaren had another disappointing session on Friday, as neither Lewis Hamilton nor Heikki Kovalainen managed to enter the Top 10. The two drivers finished 13th and 14th respectively, right ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa.

Strong performers in the first practice session on Friday, the duos from BMW Sauber and Toyota were more than a second off pace in the afternoon, recording the 4 worst times of Practice 2 (Robert Kubica, Nick Heidfeld, Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli, in that order).

Force India's Adrian Sutil did not join the pack in Practice 2 due to a fuel cell problem.
