Will Smith Kidnapped Lewis Hamilton With Help From Michael Bay

Now that he’s bungee-jumped out of a helicopter over the Grand Canyon to mark his 50th birthday, Will Smith thinks he can do whatever he sets his mind to. Even when that means taking Lewis Hamilton’s spot in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

On Sunday, Smith took over Hamilton’s Instagram for a very smart and quite hilarious instance of cross-promotion. Just recently, the actor announced that he will be reunited with Martin Lawrence and director Michael Bay for a highly-anticipated sequel to the classic “Bad Boys.”

Proving that the phrase “bad boys for life” still holds true, Smith decided to kidnap Hamilton, with some help from Bay, and take his place in the race. The result is 2 short Instagram films that should provide a taste of what’s to come with that sequel, when it drops in theaters.

You can see them at the bottom of the page, and on Will’s official Instagram.

“Lewis, I’m sorry. This is the deal. This is a once in an opportunity for me,” Smith tells the F1 champion as he’s binding him to a chair with black tape. “You already won man. Save something for other people. You black, I’m black, aint nobody gonna know the difference.”

He goes on to take Hamilton’s place and race in his stead, but his victory is marred by being arrested when the event ends. Smith is walked out of the venue in cuffs. Both videos are riddled with Michael Bay tropes: slo-mo and dramatic music, black and white edits, upwards camera angles, and plenty of smoke. No explosions, this time.

All jokes aside, Smith and Hamilton are good friends in real life and it’s nice to see the champ lending a helping hand with promoting a movie that will probably be a blockbuster even with zero promotion. Hamilton, did, of course, race – and win.

Me & @lewishamilton were in his dressing room 20 minutes before his last @f1 race shooting a silly ass post. . There was a knock at the door... We opened it and it was @michaelbay! He looked at me & then saw Lewis tied the chair. He paused... then said, “What the F#@k are you doing?” . We explained. He looked at the camera in my hand and said, “Gimme that! You don’t know what to do with this.” . So, I’m pretty sure I have the ONLY IG POST EVER directed by a Global Film Legend! Hahahahaha. . ù: @westbrook @aidan @jas
