Will Lewis Hamilton Drive His 1966 All Original 427 Shelby Cobra at Gumball 3000?

Let us take a long bow at this rare piece of beauty, a true masterpiece of the old-school automotive days. If the Formula One champ is being one hundred percent honest, we are looking at a 1966 all original 427 Shelby Cobra. However, like any good thing on this planet, there has to be a catch. Hamilton might choose this beauty for the Gumball 3000 rally.

With so few of these classics ever built, every unit of the 427 Shelby Cobra model is pure madness for a true petrolhead. Everything from looks, performance to the vehicle’s bodywork is astonishing. The sound of its engine is renown among enthusiasts as being a true muscle car delight.

But why are we talking about this car, you ask? Well, it’s what Lewis Hamilton drove the other day when he took his younger half-brother Nicholas for a spin in LA.

After all, the Spanish Grand Prix is still about a week away from dropping the flag so a little bit of time off training shouldn’t harm anyone. The two posed for a couple of selfies Hamilton later posted on Instagram as they appeared to be having quite a great time together.

Leaving the brother quality time factor aside for a second, seeing the pictures did make us remember of Hamilton’s totally inappropriate decision to join the Gumball 3000 rally.

It was recently announced the two-time Formula One world champion decided to participate. To be honest, we find his call a bit of an overplay considering that Hamilton has some prestige to look after. However, what’s done is done, so the only thing we’re wondering now is what car he’ll choose.

Gumball 3000 is famous for having the most eccentric cars. Every participant is trying to outshine the other, so they come up with the craziest tuning ideas, and, of course, drive some of the most luxurious vehicles available. This considered we can only hope Hamilton won’t opt for the 427 Shelby Cobra, a car that should receive the proper treatment and respect. Sorry people. but maybe such rarities should not turn into some kind of a circus exhibit.
