Wife’s Hyundai Hits Husband’s New Corvette

What can be worse than driving in your new car back home from the dealership and getting involved in a car accident? Well, take the example of a GenesisOwners member, whose brand new Corvette Z06 was rear ended by the Hyundai Genesis driven by his wife.

The couple went to pick up the car from the Chevy dealership, and when returning on the Massachussetts rainy freeway, a significant speed change in the right hand lane led to the aforementioned incident.

The wife following her husband closely didn’t adapt the speed in time and plowed right into the rear of his newly acquired Z06. Under the slippery conditions, the husband also failed to brake and plowed into the driver in front of him. Fortunately, the wife’s airbag went off, so there was no significant injury to anyone involved.

According to Jalopnik, below are some of the highlights of the Z06 bill repair from the husband's post on GenesisOwners :
  • headlamps (HID) - $992.21 a piece x 2
  • impact bar & energy absorber - $765.49
  • front grille - $144.07
  • fog lamp assy - $168.15
  • radiator assy - $549.05
  • air quality sensor - $238.50
  • temp sensor - $46.29
  • fan assy - $425.18
  • condensor - $342.58
  • hood - $614.04
  • fenders - $312.28 x 2
  • windshield - $785.81

As for the Z06, it hurts to see how a car that is powered by a 7.0L LS7 engine, which develops 505 horsepower was hit exactly in the rear, where the engineers moved the battery for better performances. The car can reach 62 mph in only 3.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 198 mph. Unfortunately, the poor guy will have to wait until the repair is finished to be able to enjoy what the Z06 has under the hood.

We will end this article by quoting from the husband’s post: “... morale of story is don't let wife follow you, and for god's sakes don't run the front of one of these things into anything ...”
