Wiesmann Roadster Concept Spied Ahead of Geneva Debut

As we’ve already told you, Wiesmann will be bringing to Geneva the revised versions of the MF4 and MF5 model lines (or, as Wiesmann says, “its whole array of handcrafted sports cars”). But that's not all, as the Dutch journalist over at AutoGespot have managed to catch a few shots of the new Wiesmann Roadster Concept. The car looks ready to receive the world’s automotive press that will arrive tomorrow. This hardcore beast features no doors, no side windows or windscreen. Wiesmann created it in order to gage the public’s response to such a car. Judging by the photos, we are sure it will impress! “We want to test the marketability of such cars in Geneva,” said General Manager Friedhelm Wiesmann. “The feedback of customers, partners and experts has high influence on the consideration of advancing the Spyder model.” It has not yet been decided if the Roadster will go intro production, but if it does, you won’t be able to get your hands on one until 2012. This latest prototype marks a sharp departure from the company’s tradition of building coupe models with retro-looking shapes. The concept has been described as being “an extremely downsized variation” of the existing models, purpose-built to “provide a maximum of driving enjoyment.” It reminds us a lot of Lotus’ 2-Eleven track car that was launched in 2007, aimed at the true track day enthusiast, taking Colin Chapman's philosophy of "Performance Through Light Weight" to the extreme. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
