Themed cars have been around for decades now, and they have been primarily used in the US to advertise any number of things, from ‘the Circus is in town’, to ‘Mel’s Hot Dogs’. ‘Mel’ seems to have done a great job of finding a car which would lure in customers, by taking an old Beetle, and well, made the car look as if it had swallowed a wiener - with excellent results.
The modified Beetle features two phallic-shaped protuberances, one on the front, and the other on the back, making for great US-style advertising. Who wouldn’t want to go to Mel’s to have a quick dog, while also ‘admiring’ his his creation.

We ourselves would go all the way to Tampa, Florida for a hot dog and a few pictures with the car-shaped banner sitting outside the restaurant. They would be the funniest pictures we could ever take - we would have to get used to the fact that nothing ever again would be as funny.
