Everybody is getting back into modern classic cars this year. The Supra and Corvette are all-new and give us something to talk about, but the 80s and 90s are positively littered with Japanese icons, like the 22B STI.
The proportions aren't exactly traditional - no long hood, no pop-up headlights, no V8 engine. However, the longer you look at this rare version of the STI, the more you appreciate what Subaru had done and how much more attention this machine should have received.

Digital artist Khyzyl Saleem likes the little Subaru as well and decided to give it a complete makeover fit for the cyberpunk genre. It's like a mix between the appeal of a classic rally car, a SuperGT race car from Japan and the futuristic appearance from video games.

The 22B is already pretty wide, sporting a unique look thanks to rear fenders that are 80mm wider than stock. However, this digital tuning project goes above and beyond, boxing in all fenders with a special body kit.

If this were a real car, it would obviously sport an air suspension system, otherwise, that massive lip on the wheels would take a bit out of the flares every time you go for a drive.

The front sports a mild rally theme. While the accessory lights in the middle of the bumper add illumination, the headlights have mostly been blocked off for that cyberpunk appearance.

Meanwhile, the back of the Kyza's 22B appears to sport a wing that's slightly larger than the stock one. You know the rules - it's not a wing unless you can stick your head under it. A large diffuser joins the modified exhaust system and window louvers.

A project like this would probably cost Porsche 911 Turbo money to happen, and we can't think of a single person other than Ken Block who can make it happen. Right now, he's heavily into his Fords, and that sweet Escort Cossie V2 deserves a Subaru rival.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
