Widebody Nissan GT-R50 Stands Out Like a Sore Thumb

Yes, you got that right: a digital artist came up with a rendering portraying a widebody incarnation of the Nissan GT-R50. So it's only normal to wonder why anybody would wish to play with the lines of the uber-limited model, which were penned by Italdesign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of both the design house and the GT-R.

After all, only 50 units of the rolling sculpture are being brought to life, with each one of them retailing for $1.1 million plus taxes.

Well, the truth is that this is how the Internet works nowadays. And while the pixel play we have here is admittedly an exaggeration by most standards, its roots lie in the real world.

These days, showing up in a supercar won't guarantee too much attention on social media. And that's because the tuned incarnations of these machines have grabbed the spotlights.

Heck, a widebody kit on a "normal" Nissan GT-R is nothing special anymore, while people are even bagging collector cars such as the Ferrari 458 Speciale these days. Oh, and let's not forget the Lamborghini Huracan drift car hooned by Kiwi athlete Mad Mike Whiddett.

Returning to the Nissan GT-R50 and digital artist Karan Adivi, who is the one behind this pixel play, you should note that he decided not to stray that far from the original lines of the supercar.

And the rear valance delivers what is probably the best example of how the artist chose to integrate the Italdesign styling cues and his widebody vision - while you should use the "swipe" feature of the Instagram post below for the complete eye candy, you'll find the actual GT-R50 in the image gallery above.

PS: If you happen to be in the mood for even more Nissan GT-R renderings, perhaps this unofficial portrait of the confirmed, but still concealed, R36 will float your boat.
