The FD3S version of the RX-7 is easily one of the coolest Japanese cars of all time, very desirable, and quite expensive. Thus, a wagon conversion would be considered by many to be "insulting", but we think it's the most original build in a long time.
The funny thing is that the wagon conversion was probably around when this writer was a kid. I distinctly remember looking at that greenhouse, thinking it's very "riced," but I started writing about cars, and all people in this field like wagons or shooting brakes.

To be more precise, the glass hatch is most likely the Greddy Aftermarket Hatch, probably launched in the late 90s. It obviously doesn't make the RX-7 look like a family car, more like one of those coachbuilt Ferrari shooting brakes.

Digging a little deeper, we learned that the product is actually the TRUST Gracer Aero rear gate that Greddy licensed. It's made from polycarbonate but still has a working de-frost system.

The rest of the build is strictly the work of Miyoshi Paddock Racing. They mixed the body kits of Rocket Bunny and RE Amemiya. A lot of sanding must have gone in to make the RX-7 look this immaculate. Iconic Trust racing livery (from the 1991 Trust Porsche 962C) ties everything together, giving the car a vintage look and drawing attention away from the wagon conversion.

A couple of years ago, the car was rocking only the bubble top and a weird army green paint job that you can still see in places. Pop the hood and you'll find the usual custom accessories for the rotary engine. Work Meister M1 mesh wheels and a full "race car" interior with Greddy bucket seats complete the build. The most unique RX-7 body conversion right now? We think so.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
