Widebody Fiat 124 Abarth Looks Like the Race Car It Should Have Been

We don't know who made the business case for the Fiat 124 Spider, but he probably didn't do his well. You basically buy this car only based only on looks alone, the Italian styling.

Sure, there's the Abarth version too, but other than giving you the option to spend too much money on paint or Brembo brakes, there's not much of a point. It doesn't even make the cool pops and turbo whistles that the 500 Abarth makes, and that's a real shame. We're not even going to talk about how the 2019 MX-5 makes more power. I mean, are the customers for this thing too classy to enjoy fruity sounds? Because they weren't in the days of the original 124.

Fiat did try to compensate a little bit by starting a racing program. We're not sure it worked, but at least it gives us something to talk about, and that's how good the car looks when its full of mods.

A South American rendering artist has decided to take that to the next level with his own version that's more track-ready, whereas Fiat's is a rally car. The Abarth 124 made by hugosilvadesigns sports an obvious widebody kit with round extensions to the classic and quite flamboyant Italian body.

The 124 is a little longer than the Miata, and that seems to help with the proportions of the rendering. But there's no shortage of real ND MX-5 widebody kits, whereas this is probably a digital-only thing.

If you look closely enough, you may notice that the racing Fiata also sports some carbon fiber, sprinkled all around its lower body on things like the skirts and diffuser. The material would be the obvious choice for the hardtop roof conversion as well. Our favorite of all has to be those white OZ Racing alloy wheels.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
