You've seen one Audi RS6; you've seen them all. Except this one is both smarter and stronger, like a James Bond of the car world. The project comes from Prior Design, a tuning shop that's well known for making over-the-top vehicles with widened stances.
We know that bigger tires don't necessarily make your car go faster. But it's more about standing out and making a statement in a world where everybody is driving around in €100,000 cars. What world? Why, Monte Carlo, the playground of the rich and famous.
Next to large ships worth tens of millions, the PD600R looks like it's trying a little too hard. That's the name of the package, and it can also be installed on regular versions of the car. There are several reasons why you may want to do that, including a preference for the sedan body style or the fact that you like diesel engines.
The same harbor setting recently hosted a widebody version of the A7 3.0 TDI that pretended to be an RS7 TDI. Two can play at that game, as Prior claims, it can take the frugal V6 diesel engine from 13 PS and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) to 411 PS and 807 Nm (595 lb-ft).
But why settle for second best when the RS6 has so much untapped potential? Its 560 horsepower output can be increased to 570 PS, while the torque reaches a sky-high level of 830 Nm (612 lb-ft).
One thing we like about the Prior kit is that it's bonded and perfectly blended into the body of the car, from the front to the back. But it's obvious that the world has Liberty Walk on the brain, as you can see the back of the rear tire in the same way. The D1 drift car style doesn't fit the RS6, but the wheels do. They come from Prior's go-to guys, Vossen Wheels, who created special 21-inch VPS-310 super-light alloys with a clean design. Some gunmetal paint and our Mister Bond is fully trained to kill.
