The new Audi RS7 that just got unveiled in Frankfurt is already way better looking than the model it replaces. But that only means people are going to buy it and do wild things with the mighty Sportback.
The Tesla Model S is arguably a more popular performance vehicle and it might even be faster since Audi only bumped up the V8 power to about 600 HP. However, Tesla tuning is kind of lackluster right now, as most customizers have only added minute skirts and spoilers.
We're hoping 2020 RS7 models will take things to the next level, a bit like this rendering from Car Lifestyle magazine. It shows an even wider, meaner four-door coupe. As if Audi's fender flares weren't enough, this sport even wider arches for some extra rubber.
The body kit gets emphasized with a large carbon fiber front splitter too. We can only imagine that the rear diffuser is racecar-like since the back hasn't been rendered.
We're pretty sure that Prior Design or some Japanese shop will make a new RS7 widebody package, though it probably wouldn't look like this. The rear fenders would need to be cut apart, and that's a resale no-no!
That being said, we can probably rely on Audi to deliver a cooler RS7 as well. They admitted to working on plug-in hybrid RS models, which we think means a 700 horsepower e-tron version will be developed. The technology has already been developed for the Panamera, though it's probably not as easy as swapping one engine for the other.
And if you're looking for a true Tesla rival with a four-ring badge, the e-tron GT is about two years away. It should have about 600 horsepower with impressive performance and looks that mirror this RS coupe.
